Many leaders become wildly successful in their careers.
They work hard and continue to develop their skill sets, reading books and attending various seminars. How do people know which areas are most important to focus on to bring about the most significant changes/improvements?
One of my very favorite books is “What Got You Here Won’t Get You There” by Marshall Goldsmith. This book helps us PAUSE and think about our leadership style. We learn to recognize that we likely have achieved tremendous success BECAUSE of some things we do and DESPITE some things that we do.
In order to reach those top few rungs of the corporate ladder, it is important to take the time to be honest with ourselves on which leadership skills have truly contributed to our success and which we still need to work on!
